Delta Air Lines was one of 10 airlines that participated in a mileage donation promotion over Memorial Day weekend. The airline matched mile-for-mile the 64 million miles donated by more than 3,000 of its SkyMiles members and donated a total of 128 million miles to the Fisher House Foundation.
The Fisher House uses donated miles to fly family members of wounded military members to visit their injured relatives at the medical centers where they are receiving care. The 128 million miles donated by Delta and its members will provide up to 5,000 domestic roundtrip SkySaver award tickets.
All of the airlines that participated in the CNN donation promotion helped Fisher House raise the equivalent of more than 8,000 flights for its Hero Miles program. The airlines that matched member contributions are: AirTran Airways, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Continental Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, Midwest Airlines, Northwest Airlines, United Airlines and US Airways.
